It has been really strange to have "normal" hours during my training. My days off are the weekends and throughout the week I've been home for dinner, bath, and bedtime. It's great and also a little exhausting since my internal clock is still going a bit haywire.
One thing I have missed is bedtime stories. While school was in session and while Kennedy had soccer we all had such early mornings that bedtime would sometimes pass by in a blur; everyone rushing around checking things off the list by 9-9:30pm. Then there was my evening shift. It truly made me a lazy person. On days I had to work I would need to be there by 3:30pm and it was rare that I would accomplish much before I had to leave - hence my days off were spent fulfilling other duties and I would (almost) overjoyed once it was time to whisk the kids off to dreamland. Bad mom points.
Well, since I will be up and at-em very early in the morning and have all my evenings (aside from one evening shift per week) to enjoy life at home I'm slowly adding the normal things back into queue.
First thing, first are nightly bedtime stories.
One of my only pet peeves about stories with Kennedy are the constant stoppings and asking of questions. Not even at the end of the page; just blurting out whatever her little mind wants to know at that exact moment. Mom, what kind of fish are those? If he's so pretty why is he a boy? Why is that octopus a girl? I think I find these interruptions to be so annoying because I am such an avid reader and hate interruptions while I'm reading. But then I remember that she is just a kid and they do these things.
Sharing is caring.
