hello, pnc

A little over two weeks ago I decided to make the change from Chase to PNC. The main reason I decided to change is because I learned that I can have my work ID linked up to my bank account and use it as a credit card (at work). I knew that the hospital partnered with PNC but not to what extent. Also the $200 new member bonus was a nice perk.

Well, little did I know that it was going to be a hassle and a half.

When I set up the account online it let me decide whether or not I wanted to create my PIN now or have one mailed to me. I chose to pick my own and at the end of the process I was told that I would get my new card in the mail in 3-5 business days. Well, on day 5 a PIN was delivered to my house but I threw it out because I was like, "ummm, hello I already picked one out!" The next day my card came and yippee time to activate it! Well, I called over the phone since there are really no PNC ATM's near my house and the number I entered for the PIN didn't work.. nor did the two other options I tried. I was told I was now suspended from phone activation.

The next day after work I stopped at an ATM and the same thing happened, and it was after midnight so I didn't have the option to go inside. I called customer service the next day and they said they would mail a new PIN out. Jaysussssssss. Well, when it came I tried calling to activate and I was still suspended from that service. On the way to see Lights Out, I stopped at an ATM with the new pin.. and it still didn't work! Was finally forced to go speak with someone in person to get the problem fixed. Oh how the electronic age has made me hate dealing with real humans. But hey! Steve fixed the problem in 30 seconds and I was on my way!

But, I still have to call to get my online banking refreshed because I'm still locked out from numerous failed attempts. Luckily I still had money from my previous account so I wasn't hard up for cash but it was extremely frustrating nonetheless.
