Week 9. I neglected to get the photo evidence onto my computer until now.
Me: "What's something cool you learned this week in school?"
Kennedy: "A new way to write my E's."
Me: "Oh, can you show me?"
K: *writes an e*
Me: "Yes, that is much better!" This is not an exaggeration.
Before:
^^ also, her s's have improved as well, haha
After:
She took her time and drew the inner line and then stopped her curve at the right spot vs getting into a hypnotic spiral. Then she went on to say that, "Mrs. Payne showed me another way buuuttttt, I'm not too comfortable with it."
*much confused*
So I asked her why it made her uncomfortable and she took the time to show me. The alternate way is to apparently make a c and then draw the line in the middle. I sort of felt like she was making it up, but who knows. It's a weird story to spin out of thin air, I guess.
Week 10.
Kennedy: "MOM DO YOU WANT TO SEE ALL THE NEW WORDS I LEARNED?!"
Me: "Yes, tell me all of them!"
K: "Like, and, we, go!"
Me: *claps*
And to make sure she wasn't just memorizing the pattern I quizzed her in different patterns and she still got them correct. It's crazy to me how quickly she's picking this up. Obviously this is why I took her preschool teachers advice and went with early kindergarten, but holy smokes! She's constantly sounding out words and spelling things on her own. I love it while feeling simultaneously bummed out that she's growing up.
Week 11 starts tomorrow!
